Join us for an opportunity to take photos with Santa, enjoy holiday music and shop during Holiday Happening this year.
Local photographers from Candid Color Photography will take photos of children with Santa Claus. Photos will be emailed to families after the event and will be available for purchase by mail in options of 4x6 for $4.95 and 5x7 for $5.95.
The complimentary community celebration also will feature performances by the Eisenhower Elementary Concert Chorus and Sooner Theatre. Sooner Theatre studio performers are scheduled to offer entertainment, and the cast of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” will perform two selections from the show. The event also will feature storybook time with librarians from Pioneer Library System. In addition, the museum’s education department will help children make thumb print holiday cards and decorate their own ornament to take home.
Excavations, the museum store, will offer special one-night-only discounts of 20 to 40 percent off all merchandise to help visitors cross those last few items off their holiday shopping lists. Children of all ages also can participate in a scavenger hunt as they look for elves hidden throughout the museum galleries and can pick up their prize from Excavations as they exit the museum.
In the spirit of giving, the museum will accept donations of gifts for children and teens and non-perishable food items on behalf of Food and Shelter Inc. Food and Shelter is a Norman-based organization that has fed women, children and men who are hungry and housed families in crisis for over 30 years. Donations can be brought to the museum during regular hours from Nov. 29 through Dec. 8. Everyone who donates will be entered in a drawing to win a gift certificate to Excavations.
