Spring Break Escape offers opportunities for exploration and fun on a budget. From face painting and crafts to bird shows and jaw-dropping science experiments, Spring Break Escape is packed with adventure for all ages. General museum admission applies. Check out our jam-packed schedule below! 

Friday, March 17: Celebrating Culture!

10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Oklahoma! Hunt

Oklahoma plants and animals will be hiding in each gallery today! Grab a hunt at the Information Desk and find them all! Then, head to the Discovery Room for a prize! 

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Stone Toolmaking Demonstration

Watch Neil Garrison create beautiful stone tools and arrowheads using traditional flint knapping techniques! 

10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Oklahoma Fancy Dancers

The Oklahoma Fancy Dancers are a group of powwow champions that come together to form a professional highly acclaimed Native American dance troupe. The dance shows are educational, informational, entertaining and showcase a variety of traditional American Indian tribal dances.   

10:30 to 1 p.m.
Craft: Parfleches

Children of all ages are invited to learn about parfleches, or animal hide carrying cases. Then, decorate of your own from craft materials!

11:30 a.m. to noon
Meet a Scientist: Archaeology

Learn about the museum’s artifacts from a scientist who studies ancient people and see arrowheads and other objects from the collection!

12:30 to 1 p.m.
Native American Storytelling

Head upstairs to the Hall of the People of Oklahoma for traditional Kiowa and Caddo storytelling with Kricket Rhoads-Connywerdy.

1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Oklahoma Fancy Dancers

The Oklahoma Fancy Dancers are a group of powwow champions that come together to form a professional highly acclaimed Native American dance troupe. The dance shows are educational, informational, entertaining and showcase a variety of traditional American Indian tribal dances.   

1:30 to 4 p.m.
Craft: Lanterns

Lanterns are a part of many cultural traditions. Make and decorate your own paper lantern to hang in your home!

2 to 4 p.m.
Explore Archaeology with ExplorOlogy®

Stop by to see some awesome artifacts and dig for some while you learn all about the museum’s science-outreach program, ExplorOlogy®!

2 to 4:30 p.m.
Paint Your Own Face

Get creative! Paint your face with a butterfly, your favorite character or an Oklahoma animal! 

2:30 to 3 p.m.
Meet a Scientist: Archaeology

See some awesome artifacts from the museum's archaeology collection and talk to a scientist who finds them!

3 to 3:30 p.m.
Meet a Scientist: Native American Languages

Learn all about the museum’s Native American languages collection, which has materials from over 72 Native languages!
