The Sam Noble Museum at The University of Oklahoma inspires minds to understand the world through collection-based research, interpretation, and education.
This presentation by Mark Howery, Wildlife Diversity Biologist from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, provides an overview of the work that the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) accomplishes through its Wildlife Diversity Program to conserve the state’s diverse community of nongame wildlife (those wildlife species that are considered traditional game or sportfish species). Topics covered in the presentation include an overview of ODWC’s history, mission, and funding; the agency’s policies and regulations regarding nongame wildlife, and some of the specific nongame species on which the agency focuses its effort.
