Every Thursday from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.\, children ages 6–11 are invited to the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History for an afternoon of hands‑on discovery. Parents can drop their kids off knowing they’ll be immersed in a safe\, enriching environment led by experienced museum educators. \nEvery session explores a new natural or cultural history theme through interactive activities\, behind‑the‑scenes access\, and hands-on encounters with real museum objects and specimens. Participants could examine fossils\, learn about cultural artifacts\, conduct experiments\, or explore behind-the-scenes to see how a museum really works. \nThis installment of Spike’s Club is all about Taking Flight. Children will soar into the science of biological flight\, discovering how birds\, insects\, mammals\, and even extinct creatures took to the skies. DESCRIPTION:(All Ages) The public is invited to a free presentation\, Q&A and book signing with renowned paleontologist Dr. Matt Wedel at 6 p.m. on Friday\, May 8. Titled Crowns of the Cretaceous: The Horned Dinosaurs\, Wedel’s discussion will focus on ceratopsian dinosaurs and the world‑class fossil specimens preserved at the museum — including a new Hollywood celebrity he helped to discover. \nA leading sauropod specialist and co‑author of several landmark dinosaur discoveries\, Wedel will discuss the origins and evolution of horned ceratopsian dinosaurs\, including the famous Triceratops as well as the breakout star Aquilops americanus — the earliest known ceratopsian dinosaur in North America and most recently cast as “Dolores\,” the pet‑like backpack dinosaur in Jurassic World: Rebirth. The program will also highlight the museum’s world‑famous Pentaceratops skull\, the largest skull of any land animal ever discovered. \nDr. Wedel’s May 8 lecture is free and open to the public.  \n\nRegistration opens soon!

In Residuals: Cotylorhynchus Rises\, Nash connects the energies between the mass casualties of Permian extinction and of the Griffin Memorial Hospital fire. In her memoir\, Shells and Shadows\, Nash recalls growing up in Norman\, Oklahoma in the 60s and 70s when the land that the Sam Noble Museum is positioned on was a long-abandoned WWII naval base. DESCRIPTION:(Ages 6-8) \nCalling all young explorers! Join us from July 13-17 for an unforgettable summer camp experience at the Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. Each week‑long\, three‑hour session of Summer Explorers is led by experienced museum educators and features unique themes packed with hands‑on activities\, experiments\, and plenty of opportunities to discover something new. \nThis week’s program\, designed for children ages 6 to 8\, is a Dino Adventure that kids won’t want to miss. \nCampers will travel back in time and uncover the secrets of Oklahoma’s ancient past. Examine real fossil specimens\, study trilobites and dinosaurs\, and learn how paleontologists piece together clues to understand our earliest ecosystems. \nIt’s the perfect way for kids to meet new friends\, get out of the house\, and make summer memories that last a lifetime. \nEvery Summer Explorers camper gets a free camp T‑shirt to commemorate their adventure. Be sure to choose your preferred size when you register. \nBooster seats are provided for children 9 and under and are available for children over the age of 9 upon request of parents/guardians.
