The Sam Noble Museum Vertebrate Paleontology Prep Lab is looking for volunteers! If you wish to volunteer in our Vertebrate Paleontology Prep Lab you must complete a 6-week training. All volunteers must be 18 or older. The next class will start on Oct. 26, 2023. Please see the details below.
Vertebrate Paleontology Prep Lab: Cost: $25
Class Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays
Morning class: 10 am – 12 pm
Evening class: 6 p.m. – 8 pm
Length of Training: Approximately 6 weeks
Summary of Work in the Lab: Volunteers learn general fossil preparation techniques, including micropicking (sorting small fossils from rock under a microscope), airscribing (removing debris using a compressed air pen), correct bonding practices and much more.
