The Sam Noble Museum at The University of Oklahoma inspires minds to understand the world through collection-based research, interpretation, and education.
The Sam Noble Museum Vertebrate Paleontology Lab is looking for volunteers! If you’ve ever dreamed of assisting paleontologists as they work to uncover and prepare fossil specimens, now is your chance! All volunteers MUST commit to a six week training course. Volunteers must also be 18 or older.
Volunteers will learn general fossil preparation techniques, including micro picking (sorting small fossils under a microscope), airscribing (removing debris using a compressed air pen), correct bonding practices, and more.
Classes can be taken in the morning (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.) or in the evening (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Registration opens on Feb. 1, 2023
Cost:
$25 for course materials.
