Collection Scope and Contents: The Sky Campbell Collection consists of print-based materials documenting the Omaha-Ponca and Jiwere languages, including an illustrated book and a calendar.
The Ponca illustrated book was made in 1977 and is the product of an Indian Cultural Retention project by the Oklahoma Indian Affairs Commission in collaboration with the Ponca tribe. It contains the Ponca alphabet and numbers, along with chapters on the Ponca worlds of social relationships which includes food, legends, fables and beliefs, dances, traditional designs, and natural creation.
The Otoe-Missouria Calendar was created in 2018 by Sky Campbell, which highlights specific achievements attained by the Otoe-Missouria Language Department such as the participation in the 2017 Breath of Life Archival Institute for Indigenous Languages, Oklahoma Native American Youth Language Fair, and Otoe-Missouria Winter Encampment. The calendar also incorporates various sentences and photographic images to illustrate the months and the seasons.
