Family Programs. Fun for all ages!
Family programs are designed for children and their family adults to investigate the wonderful world of science together.
Don’t miss out! Space is limited and advanced registration is required. Please pay and register online or contact the education department by calling (405) 325-1008. Participants are required to bring any forms sent via confirmation email on or before the first day of the program. All cancellations must be received 10 business days prior to the start of the program for a refund or transfer to another program.

Family Invertebrate Fossil Field Trip
6 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 19, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 20
The Sam Noble Museum invites you to join invertebrate paleontology curator Steve Westrop, Ph.D., for an exciting journey into Oklahoma’s Paleozoic past. Explore life in Oklahoma’s ancient oceans on Friday evening with a close-up look at some of the museum’s finest invertebrate specimens. On Saturday morning, we will depart from the museum at 9 a.m. and travel in university vans to the site where you will find a variety of marine fossils that you can take home. Bring a sack lunch, snacks, comfortable shoes and plenty of water. This field trip is for children ages 7 and up with an adult. Deadline to register is April 16.
Cost: MEMBER $100 / NON-MEMBER $120

Family Insect Safari and Macrophotography Workshop
10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 4
Join us for an exciting safari led by professional macro-photographer and artist Thomas Shahan! We’ll kick off this interactive workshop with an introduction to arthropods, then teach families all about the lenses, camera settings and lighting techniques that make your subject stand out against their surroundings.. Bring whatever equipment you have (camera, phone, DSLR) and we’ll teach you how to use it to your best advantage! Then, we will go outside to capture some photographs of arthropods. This workshop is for children ages 7 and up with an adult. Deadline to register is April 25.

A Night at the Museum
6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 21
Have you ever wondered what happens in the museum when the doors are locked and the lights go down? Explore and play in the museum with your family in a whole new way. You just might see something you’ve never seen before! Deadline to register is June 12.
6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 12
Do you have what it takes to be the “coolest” detective around? Complete challenges with your family to solve arctic mysteries and “chill out” with special games. We will finish our evening in our temporary exhibit, “Under the Arctic: Digging into the Permafrost,” with an exciting activity! Deadline to register is July 3.
A Night with Bats
8 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 26
What can you discover in the dark? Join us as we explore the amazing life of bats and other nocturnal critters! Bring your blanket and sense of adventure. After a short exploration at the museum, we will travel by caravan to a local park to encounter high-flying mammals and more! Deadline to register is July 17.
