Hours for Homeschool Groups
Monday-Friday: Lobby opens at 9:30 a.m. Galleries open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Summer Admission (Memorial Day through Labor Day): Monday -Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday: 1 to 5 p.m.
Homeschool Group Admission Fees
Payment for all visitors, students, complimentary chaperones and extra adults is due in one transaction.
Children 3 and under: complimentary admission
Youth ages 4 to 17: $4 admission
Chaperones (Must be over 18)
Pre-K through Grade 5
Complimentary for 1 adult per every 5 students
Grades 6 through 12
Complimentary for 1 adult per every 10 students
Extra adults: $7 Admission
If the number of adults with your group exceeds the complimentary chaperone number, the additional adults will be charged a discounted admission rate of $7 per adult. All additional adults should be paid for in one transaction to receive the discounted rate. The lead teacher should determine before arrival which adults will receive complimentary chaperone admission and who will be responsible for payment.
Educational Programs Additional Fees
Enhance your museum experience with an educational program! Discovery Room sessions and educational programs may be scheduled Monday through Friday, September through May. Click here for a full description of our programs.
Educational Program Fees (+ museum admission)
A minimum of 10 students must be present to request an educational program.
Classroom or Discovery Room Program (Pre-K through Grade 2)
25 minutes; $35
Classroom Program (Grades 3 through 12)
50 minutes; $45
Laboratory Program (Grades 6 through 12)
90 minutes; $80
Discovery Room Session (Pre-K through Grade 5)
25 minutes; $30
Please note, groups that must cancel a scheduled educational program should do so at least two weeks in advance to not be charged for programs. If your group arrives late for a scheduled educational program, we will make every effort to accommodate your group. However, it may be necessary to shorten, alter or cancel the program. Homeschool groups will be responsible for all programs costs of the originally scheduled reservation.
First Free Monday for Kids Admission
Please note that regular admission rates and program rates apply to homeschool groups scheduling educational programs on First Free Mondays for Kids. Homeschool groups scheduling a general visit without programs will not be charged admission for children 17 and under on First Free Mondays for Kids.
Our Gallery Guides include engaging activities that encourage students to explore the details in each gallery. Guides are available for grades PreK-12 and activities take about 30 minutes to complete in each gallery. View our gallery guides
Discovery Kits provide students with hands-on materials to help them learn more about the natural and cultural world! Discovery Kits are available at no charge to educators and can be picked up at the museum. The loan period is two weeks. Learn more about Discovery Kits
We welcome homeschool educators to reserve the Discovery Kits in the months of June, July and August. During the school year (September through May), we will be happy to place you on a wait list should a kit become available. Digital versions of each kit are available year round. Learn more here
