Fossils: Prehistoric Puzzle Pieces

July 17, 2024 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Fossils are nature’s time capsules, offering researchers a unique window into the past. They can be used to answer a vast array of questions regarding climate changes, earth chemistry fluctuations, evolutionary relationships, and much more. The information obtained from these prehistoric artifacts allows scientists to “dig up” the dirt on ancient life and provides tangible evidence of relationships between organisms. These relationships are illustrated in a phylogenetic tree, which is a comprehensive family tree emphasizing commonalities and distinctions based on shared traits. Join us on July 17 as Alysha Zazubec leads a free lecture on what fossils can teach us about the natural world.
