Food and Decoration Guidelines
We are excited to welcome you and your party to the museum!
The Sam Noble Museum is one of the largest and finest university-based museums in the world. We have over 6 million artifacts and specimens that represent Oklahoma’s history from prehistoric to modern times! In order to protect the museum’s collections from pests or from becoming damaged, we need your help. Please review the important guidelines below and pass the information on to your party guests. If you have any questions, please contact us at (405) 325-1008 or email Education.SamNobleMuseum@ou.edu.
Food (cake, ice cream, candies, etc.) may be brought into the museum, as long as it remains in the party space or on the cart provided by your birthday host.
Please bring only individual serving beverages without a colored dye (examples: clear or brown sodas, Capri-Sun, bottled juice or juice boxes, bottled water, etc.) Please do not bring beverages with a colored dye (examples: Kool-Aid, fruit punch, grape juice, orange soda) or beverages in 2-liter or gallon bottles.
You are welcome to bring non-inflated balloons, additional table decorations and party favors. Balloons may not be inflated inside the museum (with or without helium). Please do not bring glitter confetti, streamers, crepe paper or any wall decorations. Nothing can be taped or attached to the walls. Items made of organic materials (i.e. live plants, feathers, moss, potpourri, straw, etc.) are NOT allowed into the museum.
Lighting of candles is strictly prohibited inside and outside of the museum property.
You are welcome to bring your own paper products for the party such as napkins, plates, forks, spoons, etc. Serving utensils can be provided for cutting cake. Please use plastic bags instead of paper sacks for transporting items. Coolers and Tupperware style containers are permitted. Corrugated cardboard boxes are not allowed inside museum.
All food, other items and gifts brought in by your guests must be left at the front desk. Your birthday host will set up the party area with your items. Use of electrical appliances and devices requires prior approval.
Photography or videotaping of the party is allowed for personal use only. You must obtain permission from museum employees and volunteers before photographing or videotaping these individuals.
