The Sam Noble Museum at The University of Oklahoma inspires minds to understand the world through collection-based research, interpretation, and education.
When thinking of dinosaur producing states, many don’t consider Oklahoma right off. A number of significant, and not so significant dinosaur remains have been found in Oklahoma and all of the dinosaurs, in the strict sense, currently known from our state will be reviewed here. What makes an animal a “dinosaur in the strict sense” will also be covered, contrasting them from other prehistoric animals, like Dimetrodon.
