The Sam Noble Museum at The University of Oklahoma inspires minds to understand the world through collection-based research, interpretation, and education.
Did you know that Oklahoma is home to more Native languages than any other state? Did you know that you can hear and read examples of all these languages in this museum? The Sam Noble Museum’s Native American Languages Collection contains documentation of over 175 languages from North America and beyond, across many different formats and media. This presentation will give you a sample of this diverse and unique collection. From pow-wow videos to children’s stories, from sci-fi films to hymns; join us as we look at the many ways Indigenous people express themselves in their Native languages!
Join us at 12:00 p.m. on February 20 for this informative look into the Native languages of North America. There is no cost to attend, and the lecture is open to the general public.
