Discovery Room Session
Discovery Room Sessions allow students to participate in free-choice learning opportunities and free play activities that enhance their understanding of natural and cultural history. Each session begins with a short introduction to the room by a Discovery Room staff member. Students are then encouraged to explore the room independently. These 25 minute sessions are most appropriate for PreK through grade 5 and are limited to a maximum of 25 students per session. Fee is $30 per session. Discovery Room sessions are available beginning the day after Labor Day and ending the third week of May.
Our Gallery Guides include engaging activities that encourage students to explore the details in each gallery. Guides are available for grades PreK-12 and activities take about 30 minutes to complete in each gallery. View our gallery guides
Discovery Kits provide students with hands-on materials to help them learn more about the natural and cultural world! Discovery Kits are available at no charge to educators and can be picked up at the museum. The loan period is two weeks. Learn more about Discovery Kits
We welcome homeschool educators to reserve the Discovery Kits in the months of June, July and August. During the school year (September through May), we will be happy to place you on a wait list should a kit become available. Digital versions of each kit are available year round. Learn more here
