Scout Workshops

Are you a Girl Scout or Cub Scout? The Sam Noble Museum offers workshops for Scouts and troops throughout the year. Scouts will explore museum galleries and engage in hands-on activities in order to complete all requirements to earn one badge, loop or pin. Advanced registration is required and space is limited.

Fall 2017 Programming 

Registration for fall Scouts programs starts June 12. 

Cost: $12 per Scout. 

Includes workshop and general admission for the Scout. Badges, belt loops and pins are not included. Scouts registering individually are each required to have one adult chaperone. For troop registration, a minimum of one adult chaperone is required per five Scouts. Attending chaperones receive complimentary workshop admission. General museum admission is not included for adults.

Girl Scouts 

Junior Girl Scout “Detective” Workshop
Saturday, Dec. 2, 1 to 4 p.m.
(Class is full. Taking registrations for the wait list only.)

Investigation station! Junior Girl Scouts will explore the science behind detective work during this museum mystery. Will you be able to figure out whodunit when a priceless museum object goes missing? Follow the clues and complete all the requirements to earn the “Detective” badge! Deadline to register is Nov. 22. 

Boy Scouts 

Tiger Cub Scouts “Sky is the Limit” Workshop
Saturday, Nov. 18, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
(Registration closed.)

Have you ever wondered about the things you see in the night sky? Do you want to know how to focus a telescope? Join us for an evening of stars, science and Scouts! Tiger Scouts will search the skies and explore constellations in this astronomical workshop. Tiger Cub Scouts will complete all the requirements to earn the “Sky Is the Limit” adventure loop. 

Bear Cub Scouts “Make It Move” Workshop
Friday, Dec. 1, 5 to 8 p.m. or Saturday, Dec. 2, 9 a.m. to noon

Levers and pulleys and inclined planes, oh my! Learn how to make objects move up, down and all around. Bear Cub Scouts will complete all the requirements to earn the “Make It Move” adventure loop. Deadline to register is Nov. 22.

Registration

Advance registration is required and space is limited. On-site registration is not available for these programs. Participants are required to bring any forms sent via confirmation email (releases, waivers, etc.) on or before the first day of the program. Please note that due to space limitations, additional siblings and other children not enrolled in the workshop may not remain in the program area.

All cancellations must be received 10 business days prior to the start of the program for a refund or transfer to another program. To register an individual Scout or troop, please register online or call (405) 325-1008.

  • Troop registration payments must be received two weeks in advance of the program.
  • All Scouts must be paid for at one time.
  • A minimum of one adult chaperone is required per five Scouts.

Spring 2018 Programming

Registration for spring Scouts programs opens Nov. 13.

Brownie Girl Scout “Bugs” Workshop
Saturday, April 14, 10 a.m. to noon

Bugs are an important part of our world! We’ll learn all about bugs, their homes and get creative with crafts. Brownie Scouts will complete all the requirements to earn the “Bugs” badge. Deadline to register is April 4.

Junior Girl Scout “Entertainment Technology” Workshop
Saturday, April 14, 1 to 4 p.m.

Lights, camera, action! Discover the world of video games and movie magic. Look into the technology and science behind the best on-screen scenes. Junior Scouts will complete all the requirements to earn the “Entertainment Technology” badge. Deadline to register is April 4.

Senior Girl Scout “Sky” Workshop
Saturday, April 14, 6 to 9 p.m.

Set your eye to the sky! Join us as we discover the layers of the atmosphere, the science of flight and more. We will top it all off with an up-close look of the night sky through telescopes! Senior Scouts will complete all the requirements to earn the “Sky” badge. For Senior Scouts only: chaperones not required, with signed waiver. Deadline to register is April 4.

Cub Scouts

Wolf Cub Scouts “Digging in the Past” Workshop
Saturday, Feb. 17, 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Dive into the wonderful world of dinosaurs! We’ll identify, create and dig for fossils in this prehistoric adventure. Wolf Scouts will complete all the requirements for the “Digging in the Past” adventure loop. Deadline to register is Feb. 7.

Bear Cub Scouts “World of Sound” Workshop
Saturday, Feb. 17, 1 to 4 p.m.

Prepare yourself for a musical adventure around the world! Join us as we make instruments from different countries and learn about the cultures they come from. Bear Cub Scouts will complete all the requirements to earn the “World of Sound” adventure loop. Deadline to register is Feb. 7.

Webelos Scouts “Engineer” Workshop
Friday, March 2, 5 to 7 p.m., or Saturday, March 3, 1 to 4 p.m.

What in the world is engineering? How do you make a blueprint? Can animals be engineers? Explore questions like these and more in our hands-on discovery of life as an engineer. Webelos will complete all the requirements to earn the “Engineer” Webelos/AOL elective adventure pin. Deadline to register is Feb. 21.

Tiger Cub Scouts “Tiger Tales” Workshop
Saturday, March 3, 10 a.m. to noon

The time has come for Tigers to tell terrifically tall tales! Join us as we share stories and activities from different cultures. Tiger Scouts will complete requirements for the “Tiger Tales” adventure loop. Deadline to register is Feb. 21.

Tiger Scouts were born to perform! Join us as we learn about different types of theater, play games and explore nature-themed reader’s theater. Tiger Cub Scouts will complete all the requirements to earn the “Tiger Theater” adventure loop.

Brownie Girl Scouts "Inventor" Workshop
Tuesday, July 3, 10 a.m. to noon

Bring your creativity to the museum as we explore new ways to use everyday things! What can you do with a box? How many different ways can you use nature to make music? Learn to think like an inventor and find out! Brownie Scouts will complete all the requirements to earn the “Inventor” badge.

Junior Girl Scouts "Animal Habitats" Workshop
Tuesday, July 3, 1 to 4 p.m.

Walk on the wild side as we explore the animals all around us. Join us and explore classification, Oklahoma habitats, endangered animals and more! Junior Scouts will complete all requirements for the “Animal Habitats” badge.

Wolf Cub Scouts "Motor Away" Workshop
Thursday, July 5, 10 a.m. to noon

Ready, set, go! Discover ways to fly, sail and propel as we “launch” into creating things that move! Wolf Scouts will complete requirements for the “Motor Away” adventure loop.

Webelos "Into the Woods" Workshop
Thursday, July 5, 1 to 4 p.m.

Is it easy being green? Join us as we explore what types of trees are found in Oklahoma and plant a tree of our very own! Webelos will complete all the requirements to earn the “Adventures in Science” Webelos/AOL elective adventure pin.

Bear Cub Scouts "Super Science" Workshop
Friday, July 6, 1 to 4 p.m.

Calling all scientists! Join us as we explore and experiment with static electricity, color and more! Bear Scouts will complete requirements for the “Super Science” adventure loop.
